Dr. Hassan Rashid said that: The theater has witnessed a decline in recent years as a result of the dominance of drama and cinema due to the poor financial return of theatrical works, while the theater is linked to the love of the stage as the actor gets the reward at the same time from the interaction of the audience, citing some playwrights who are associated closely with the theater and immerse themselves in its sea.
Besides, he pointed to the high cost of the theatrical performance due to the requirements of the times and modern technologies, and the disappearance of sports club theaters and youth’s theater that played an influential role in the past, as Qatari playwrights won international awards starting from Sharjah and ending with Italy, Algeria and Morocco.
At the end of the episode, the writer stressed on the importance of criticism in directing the theatrical and dramatic movement, and expressed his regret at the lack of acceptance of criticism, the disappearance of magazines that care about theater and open their platform to critics, and the absence of interest in criticism.
