During her speech at the “Transforming Education” Summit in New York: Education is a human right and a cornerstone of the Qatari constitution

At the beginning of her speech, HE the Minister expressed Qatar's appreciation for the role played by Antonio Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations in the service of education. She also thanked the Deputy Secretary-General for her preparatory efforts for the historic summit.The Minister stressed that the only challenge that will pose the coming decades is the deep and essential need to provide quality and inclusive education for all, especially for those who live in conflict areas.

Her Excellency pointed out that education is a basic human right, and that it is a core pillar of the constitution in the State of Qatar, as the State of Qatar is one of the top countries in the region in terms of investment in education. She also acknowledged the wise leadership of His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Emir of Qatar - may God protect and preserve him – which prioritize education globally as one of the main pillars of the country's external development programs.

Her Excellency also praised the leadership role of Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, founder and chair of the Board of Trustees of the Education Above All Foundation, to advocate for the sustainable development goals and to guide the provision of education for children in conflict areas.

The Minister indicated that the State of Qatar was at the forefront of countries that provided international development assistance in the education sector, by providing support to more than 14 million children in more than (60) countries, as well as many educational initiatives, programs and projects to support education for children in conflict areas. HE the minister stressed on Qatar's commitment to work with all partners and the international system to transform education systems in a way that enable children and youth affected by crises to obtain comprehensive and high-quality education opportunities.

At the conclusion of her speech, the Minister praised the role of the Education Above All Foundation in its quest to provide the most vulnerable children in developing countries with comprehensive and high-quality education, stressing that the State of Qatar provides every young person with the opportunity to realize their hopes and aspirations, hoping to transform schools into safe, healthy and attractive educational environments.

A leading role for Qatar in the Transforming Education Summit

 On the other hand, Her Excellency Mrs. Buthaina bint Ali Al Jabr Al Nuaimi, Minister of Education and Higher Education, participated on Monday, September 19, 2022, in the conclusion of the work of the Transforming Education Summit, held from September 16-19, 2022 in New York.  During that, an introduction to the vision of the Secretary-General of the United Nations was presented. The role of the State of Qatar was also commended for being one of the five countries that had a leading role in the Education Transformation Summit.​
