Among the most prominent activities of the National Week for Scientific Research and Innovation, the finalists for the qualified research in the preparatory and secondary stages, which include 135 research projects, divided into eight categories in biomedicine, engineering, computing and communication systems, earth and environmental sciences, chemistry and materials science, plant and animal sciences, behavioral and social sciences, Energy, Physics and Mathematics. A total of 270 male and female students from 100 middle and high schools participate in the qualifiers.

The final qualifiers will take place from 2-5 October 2022 at the Science and Technology Park at Qatar Foundation.

These qualifiers are the result of internal school research exhibitions in which students compete in various scientific fields, which result in the qualification of distinguished projects after they are uploaded to the Student and Teacher Research Link: https://studentresearches.edu.gov.qa/Default.aspx in preparation for arbitration after reviewing all its data, and revealing it through the “iThenticate" software service, which detects scientific plagiarism, if any, and accordingly, the research that exceeds the pre-defined percentage of similarity or violates research ethics is excluded. Accordingly, the arbitration stages continue with the group that successfully passed the plagiarism and ethical validation step, through the activities of the National Week for Scientific Research and Innovation, by a group of qualified arbitrators in various universities and specialized research centers in Qatar. The qualified researches are also presented on the research competition platform:  https://educompetitions.edu.gov.qa/research, classified according to the different scientific stages and categories.

In parallel with the final qualifiers, training workshops will be held, sponsored and organized by Shell. The workshops target the scientific research coordinators and supervisors accompanying the students. The training is implemented by Shell's main global program for science, technology, engineering and mathematics "NXplorers" at Shell laboratories. Besides, a technical presentation of the water- and salt-powered car project is offered.

The Qatar Scientific Club will also participate in a workshop on practical innovation in education, presented by Engineer Rashid Hussein Al-Rahimi, Executive Director of the Qatar Scientific Club.

On October 12, 2022, an exhibition will be held for the research winning the first three places in various research competitions, sponsored and supervised by the Scientific Research Department in the Ministry of Education and Higher Education building. Besides, the students who won the partners' research will be honored in the presence of representatives from each party; which includes: “the research of the Qatar Scientific Club (5 researchers), the research of the National Traffic Safety Committee at the Ministry of Interior, and the research of the Supreme Committee for Projects and Legacy organizing the 2022 World Cup".

The closing ceremony will be held on October 13, 2022, to honor the projects that won the first three places in the various competitions, in the presence of the Minister of Education and Higher Education, education leaders, leaders of the Qatar Council for Research, Development and Innovation, educators, parents of students and those interested in scientific research.
