According to the Ministry of Transport of Qatar, the Qatar General Electricity & Water Corporation (KAHRAMAA) is set to supply, install, and operate some 37 electric vehicle charging units at 22 of Woqod stations in Doha and its vicinities, as well as in Al-Khor, Al-Wakra, and border outlets.
The move comes in implementation of the action plans relative to the strategy of transforming to e-vehicles in Qatar, developed by the Ministry of Transport.
This comes in the context of ongoing concerted efforts between the executive entities and the national companies to achieve the goals of the strategy.
The first phase was completed; 25% of the buses assigned for the World Cup tournament’s transportation service is electric.
And in conjunction with the national corporations and executive entities, MOT supplied and installed more than 650 e-bus charging units at the public bus stations and depots inaugurated this year, as well as at Doha Metro stations, and several other locations within the paths of e-buses that are used for public transit and the transportation of FIFA Qatar 2022 fans. Such achievements are becoming a permanent legacy for clean energy mass transit system after the tournament, something which will boost Qatar’s ranking in that field.
