The Ministry of Public Health, Hamad Medical Corporation and Primary Health Care Corporation will showcase the wide range of healthcare services they will deliver throughout the tournament at a joint booth at the WISH conference, taking place from 4-6 October in Doha, Qatar.

The booth will also provide a platform to promote the Sport for Health partnership between MoPH and the World Health Organization (WHO). Launched in October 2021, the Sport for Health partnership aims to make the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™ a beacon for physical and mental health promotion, and a model for ensuring future mega sport events are healthy and safe.
The Sport for Health partnership is unpinned by the key pillars of health promotion, health security and health communications, with health promotion activities focused on four core themes: physical activity, nutrition, mental health and tobacco control.
The healthcare booth at WISH, which will also be accessible online as a virtual booth for delegates not attending WISH in person, will highlight the remarkable transformation of Qatar’s public health system over the past ten years – a journey of expansion and quality improvement that has put the health system in a strong position to support Qatar’s successful hosting of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™.
Under the auspices of WISH, WHO, MoPH and Generation Amazing are also hosting a Sport for Health Conference, incorporating the 4th scientific meeting of Football is Medicine, in Doha, from 4–6 October 2022. The conference aims to strengthen global networks and translate science into policy and practice around the use of football and sport for health. International and local experts, researchers, practitioners and policy makers will review existing evidence on the efficacy and impact of sport for health programs and identify future pathways to more effective implementation.
