Hamas Chief receives UN Mideast envoy in Doha

According to the statement, the two sides discussed the various developments regarding the Palestinian cause, especially in light of the formation of the extreme right-wing government in Israel and the behaviour of its ministers, which target Jerusalem, Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Palestinian people, as well as their statements which reflect aggressive intentions and plans that may lead to destabilising the entire region.
"The meeting dealt with ways to achieve Palestinian national unity and end division, in order to strengthen the internal Palestinian front in facing the challenges facing [Palestinian] people and their national cause," it added.
The meeting has also addressed the serious challenges caused by the extremist behaviour of the Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu's government, especially against Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa and the recent incursion by the National Security Minister, Itamar Ben Gvir into the Al-Aqsa Mosque.
Haniyeh has also reviewed the Israeli settlement plans, the annexation plans for areas in the Occupied West Bank, and targeting the Palestinians in Israel, the siege on the Gaza Strip and the Israeli escalations against prisoners.
The two sides have also discussed regional and international developments, including the repercussions of the Ukraine war and how to garner international support for the Palestinian cause.
