The State of Qatar participated in the 2022 World Health Summit, which was held in Berlin from 16 to 18 October. The State's delegation at the Summit was headed by Dr. Hanan Mohamed Al Kuwari, the Minister of Public Health

The Ministry of Public Health reported that during the Sports and Health session at the summit, Her Excellency Dr. Hanan Mohamed Al-Kuwari spoke about the Healthy World Cup 2022™️, and how established to be a legacy that would make it a beacon for future mega sports events to be healthy and safe. HE also tackled the issue of promoting mental health awareness and the initiative of (Friendship Benches) implemented in Qatar to encourage residents and visitors to meet together and ask each other, “Are you okay?”. Her Excellency also indicated that the State of Qatar is the first in the region to have all its municipalities accredited by the World Health Organization (WHO) as healthy cities, which enhances healthy choices for residents and visitors of Qatar.

On the side events of the 2022 World Health Summit held in Berlin yesterday, HE Dr.Hanan participated in a round- table discussion on regionalization and global health – implications of global jobs and cooperation, in which representatives from various regions including the African Union, the Association of Southeast Asian Nations and the European Union participated. Her Excellency Dr. Hanan Mohammed Al-Kuwari stressed that the State of Qatar, under the wise leadership of His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, Amir of the State of Qatar, attaches great significance to global health security, noting that the State of Qatar has provided support to the World Health Organization, United Nations programs, and countries during the COVID-19 pandemic and other health emergencies confirming that as diseases do not stop at borders, stopping their spread requires collaborative global efforts.
Also, HE the Minister met a number of delegations participating in the 2022 World Health Summit, on the side events of the Summit. In one-on-one meetings, HE Dr.Hanan met HE. Dr. Hilal Ali Al Sabti, Minister of Health of the Sultanate of Oman, HE Dr. Gan Kim Young, the Minister of Health of the Republic of Singapore, Mr. Roland Gohde Chair of the Board  of German Health Alliance and Dr. Chris Elias is the president of the Global Development Division at the Foundation Bill and Melinda Gates. During the meetings, aspects of cooperation in the health fields were discussed, in addition to discussing the most important topics of the World Health Summit 2022.
On behalf of HE the Minister, Sheikh Dr. Mohammed bin Hamad Al Thani, Director of the Public Health Department at the Ministry of Public Health, participated in the session, walk the talk - for better non-communicable diseases outcomes, at the World Health Summit 2022. During the session innovations and practices were reviewed in order to develop the national capabilities, with the participation of a number of global health policy makers, leaders, young researchers and innovators. The session discussed exploring innovative approaches to the prevention and control of noncommunicable diseases, such as the NCD Essential Supply Facility to improve access to treatment for noncommunicable diseases to achieve SDG 3.4 targets by 2030, as well as recognizing the role of young researchers as key change makers in the world to expand action against noncommunicable diseases and promote mental health.
The delegation of the State of Qatar also participated in the sessions and events of the summit, which discussed many important topics, including investment in health and well-being, climate change and planet health, pandemic preparedness and response structure, digital transformation for health, food and health systems, health systems resilience and equity, and global health for peace. The World Health Summit 2022 is the first summit organized in partnership with the World Health Organization, with the participation of a group of leading scientists and medical specialists, global health leaders and stakeholders from all sectors in all regions around the world.
