Qatar’s Emir to hold an important meeting with Spain’s President
Today was the first day of the official visit of the Emir of Qatar to Spain, which has been highlighted by a great number of events and meetings with Spanish government representatives and other prominent figures

An official reception was held at the Royal Palace of Madrid where the Emir and his wife were received by Felipe VI and Queen Letizia, together with Spain’s President, Pedro Sanchez.
The Emir went to the Madrid City Hall where he received the Golden Key of the City of Madrid from José Luis Martínez Almeida, the mayor of Madrid. The Golden Key is awarded as a sign of gratitude to the heads of other states who travels on an official visit to Madrid. A number of Spanish officials were also present. Following this event, the Emir attended a meeting with the King at the Zarzuela Palace, after which he and his wife were invited to an honorary lunch, which was also attended by the President of the Spanish Government.

This Wednesday, the Emir and the Spanish President will meet to discuss, above all, issues of economic interest to both states, as well as the war in Ukraine, natural gas, and some educational and cultural topics. The venue that has been chosen for this meeting is the Moncloa Palace.
